Q.-Can you modify OSHWare to meet our corporate needs?
A.-Yes, we would be pleased to perform modifications. OSHWare is generic to all types of business, but if you have special needs that are required to be addressed or tracked, OSHWare can be modified to meet your specific business needs.
Q.-Are you a recognized software vendor for the WCB of British Columbia?
A.-Yes, but you should understand what the term "recognized vendor" means. The WCB of BC only licenses software that transmits directly to the WCB. OSHWare communicates with AIRS (the WCBs software) exporting the data. OSHWare works as a front-end communication system, providing flexibility for you to use your own tables and codes, and maintain an independent and more complete, database of information which can be modified to suit your needs. Only the transmission portion of AIRS is used ensuring you meet BC WCB requirements.
Q.-Do I have the ability to modify or change OSHWares drop-down lists?
A.-Yes, all the drop down lists are controlled by the user. Many tables contain generic-type data and many of the AIRS connections to your independent listings have been made for you. The drop down lists can be appended, deleted, or modified by you to suit your needs.
Q.-I dont know anything about WCB policy or procedures. Can OSHWare help me?
A.-Most definitely. OSHWare comes complete with an "Alert" feature. The To Do List provides direction in claims and safety management based upon WCB policies and procedures. OSHWare analyzes your information and produces the listing automatically. The To Do Lists can be modified to include corporate requirements as well. OSHWare ensures nothing is overlooked or missed.
Q.-Can I create my own reports?
A.-Yes, many companies are already producing reports that work for them. They are familiar to staff and committees. These same reports can be produced by exporting OSHWare data and producing your reports as usual, only much faster and with more consistent and reliable information. OSHWare is compatible with many Microsoft products.
Q.-Is OSHWare Year 2000 compliant?
A.-Yes, fully compliant and certified
Q.-What is OSHWares minimum system requirements?
Minimum: 486 CPU, Windows, 8 MB RAM, 20 MB of Hard Drive space Recommended: Pentium II, Windows, 32 MB RAM, 50 MB of Hard Drive space OSHWare is capable of operating on the virtual side of an IMac as well.
Q.-Can OSHWare data records be transferred between various office sites?
A.-Yes. A transmission system (IRS) developed by ProBase Technologies Inc. offers you the ability of centralized control of your health and safety. The IRS system allows you to transmit from site to site or to your Head Office. You may require unique modifications to meet your requirements and we would be pleased to discuss this in further detail with you.
Q.-Can OSHWare be used in a multi-employer environment?
A.-Yes. You also have flexibility to produce reports and statistics filtered to include a specific employer or all of the OSHWare data combined.
Q.-Can I import historical data from another Database? Can I connect my employee information database to OSHWare instead of entering employee information?
A.-Usually, depending on your existing data platform. We can provide your systems staff with information to assist them with importation or connections, or we can provide this service for you.
Q.-Do you offer versions for other provinces, states or countries?
A.-We are currently preparing a number of versions of OSHWare. In Canada, WCB requirements are different for each province. If you wish to participate in beta testing and/or assist with the development of a version for your area, please Contact Us .
Q.-Can OSHWare produce statistics?
A.-Yes, at the click of a button. Statistics can also be specificied by site, supervisor, employee, injury type, body area and many other filter criteria, allowing you to narrow in on trend analysis issues.
Q.-Can OSHWare communicate with the BC WCB AIRS software?
A.-Yes, there is a version of OSHWare that communicates with the WCB of BC AIRS software. If you are currently submitting information to a regulatory body electronically, OSHWare can be modified to transmit to them as well.
Q.-What kind of reports can I produce?
A.-There is no limit to the types of reports you can produce. OSHWare comes complete with hundreds of reports, communication letters and forms for you to print. As well, your data can be safely and easily exported to another database or spreadsheet environment where you can create your own unique reports or graphics.
Q.-Do you provide training?
A.-Yes we do. Any new system can seem complex when you first begin. OSHWare is easy to use, if you can complete a WCB form, you can use OSHWare. We offer free technical support the first 90 days for those quick "how-to" questions when you're just beginning. OSHWare also comes with a complete Help system. However, if you want to be an expert... wed be happy to provide training at a reasonable rate.
Q.-Can OSHWare export data into other software platforms?
A.-Yes. Simply click the export button to export a tables contents or export your report data from the filters menu. As OSHWare operates in a Microsoft environment, it communicates with all kinds of databases such as FoxPro, Paradox, MS Access, Excel, Crystal Reports, Dbase and many more.
Q.-Can OSHWare track Motor Vehicle Incidents or other non-compensable incidents?
A.-Yes. Regardless if there is an injury or not, property damage and other types of incidents can be reported and monitored using OSHWare. OSHWare tracks more than just WCB reportable incidents/injuries.
Q.-What kind of technical support is available?
A.-Your first 90 days of technical support is available free of charge upon your purchase of OSHWare. Technical support is provided via telephone or over the internet, we will even do "house calls" if required! We take pride in our service to our clients, offering 48 hour turn-around on any problem.
Q.-Can OSHWare be used in a network environment?
A.-Yes. You may require data entry from a number of resources, for example payroll staff, safety or clerical staff, or from various sites. As well, reports may be required to be generated at various management levels.
Q.-What does OSHWare manage and/or track?
A.-All internal and external inspections, sanctions/penalties and appeals. All incidents including first aid, non-injury incidents, medical only, time/wage loss, and appeals. You may wish to also track short/long term leaves (sick leave/disability). OSHWare was designed to assist you in managing WCB issues but other insurance carriers or inspecting agencies can be added by you.
Q.-How will my company benefit from using OSHWare?

Q.- Why track and monitor non-compensable or "no injury" incidents? The Workers' Compensation Board does not require that we report them.
A.- OSHWare isn't just a reporting system, it manages your health and safety. In tracking non-reportable incidents you can analyze and identify trends, possibly avoiding more serious and costly incidents. Monitoring non-compensable incidents also gives you a complete picture of your health and safety issues.
Q.-Does OSHWare produce all the required WCB Forms?
A.- Yes. These forms can be printed to your local printer, faxed directly from your PC to the WCB using a modem, or electronically filed if applicable.
Q.- When a claim is accepted, there can be a large amount of correspondence sent by the WCB. How can I track all the paperwork involved?
A.- There is not only correspondence from the WCB, but also doctors' reports, telephone calls, conversations with adjudicators, interviews, requests to the WCB for cost relief and so on, depending on the complexity of the claim. OSHWare has an "alert" system called the To Do List and History file where each and every action regarding a claim may be tracked. The result is a complete claim history and an outstanding list of tasks to perform at any time for each incident. Your Mentor alert system keeps everything on track.
